Can I set up an office on that hilltop wayyyyy over there?

With 5G Mobile aggregated data, you can set it up a little bit higher too.

The 5G cellular technology is not just an evolution of a 4th-generation network but also the future of wireless mobile communications. The growing network demand has increased dependence on the 5G network. The current advancements made in 5G have found their usage in numerous fields. With the transition of most work being done from remote places, the need for a better and more robust network has increased. It is a known fact that 5G has its foot placed firmly in urban and ultra-urban areas but does the technology work in rural areas? Will it be possible to enjoy the benefits of 5G cellular technology from a rural location or a hilltop?

Making 5G available in rural areas is possible, but there are several challenges associated with it. The high cost of building network towers in remote places, ensuring electricity stability, and large investments can make 5G deployment in rural locations quite challenging. Network providers would hesitate to offer their service because the income generated will be lower than the amount invested in having the infrastructure built.

As mentioned earlier, 5G has found utility in various sectors, including remote health care, online education, smart farming, and remote working. When it comes to health care and online education, rural areas need it the most. United Nations has also stated “access to the Internet” to be one of the human rights. Hence, rural areas must experience the benefits of 5G cellular technology, and the industry too must be able to achieve economic sustainability.

5G Connectivity – The Solution for Rural Areas
Once you get used to the speed and utilities of 5G, falling back to 3G or even 4G would be more than just tricky. People in rural regions have started using internet-demanding technologies and would want to enjoy the same bandwidth and efficiency that people in the cities experience.

Owing to issues associated with network cost-effectiveness, some may pose questions like – Isn’t a 4G network enough for those from remote locations? People living on hilltops or in rural areas have the exact needs as those living in more metropolitan cities; hence 5G infrastructure must be made available in these locations. The ultimate goal is to make all regions smart (rural or urban). Therefore service providers are trying to offer 5G compatibility in all areas without compromising on economic stability.

Challenges associated with 5G Connectivity in Rural Areas
As mentioned earlier, building network towers in rural areas and laying down an infrastructure would involve a lot of money. If the providers don’t gain much from these areas, it would feel like a “waste of money.” Besides the cost of building the network, maintaining these networks also involves money. Transport of goods and time involved in having the network built are a few other challenges associated with 5G Deployment in rural areas. 5G will evolve into something more efficient in the future; therefore, care must be taken to build a future-proof network.

5G in Mount Everest – Making Dream a Reality!
5G network coverage was made available after a base station was built at an altitude of 6,500 meters on Mount Everest. Mountaineers from China can now enjoy uninterrupted 5G service. Besides helping climbers connect and communicate with the rest of the world, the availability of 5G connectivity has made rescuing and researching easier.

Zhou Min, General manager at the Tibet Branch of China Mobile, said that the 5G facility would ensure better communication, high-definition live-streaming, and better environmental monitoring. Along with the other two base stations at 5,300 meters and 5,800 meters, the 3rd base station is committed to offering an intelligent–tourism experience. Numerous tech giants are joining hands in making 5G connectivity a reality even in the remotest of all places. 5G mobile aggregated data has evolved into being the best version of itself, and in the next few years, setting up an office on a hilltop will no longer remain a dream.

SMOAD Network devices use proprietary technology to aggregate several internet connections’ bandwidth and route the network traffic intelligently. The various connections can be 3G, 4G, or even 5G connections.

SMOAD 5G Ready
SMOAD can run multiple Virtual Machines at the edge level already. This gives SMOAD an advantage in performing various functions on the device itself. Also, the technology used for aggregation of wireless/wired connections is generation agnostic. So, when 5G comes in, SMOAD devices can take advantage of it right from Day 1.
